Can you imagine it’s not real tuna? Food industry giant Nestlé lines up a new plant-based seafood alternative that is exactly like tuna.
Its flavor and texture makes it perfect as a tuna replacement in any dish, such as sandwiches, pizzas, salads, and more.
According to an article published in foodincanada.com, “The product will be first launched under the Garden Gourmet brand in Switzerland.
The launch will feature both the chilled product, which is available in a glass jar, as well as plant-based tuna sandwiches in select stores.
Made from a combination of only six plant-based ingredients, it is rich in pea protein, contains all the essential amino acids and is free of artificial colouring or preservatives.”
This particular product is the latest addition to a wide array of plan-based alternatives including burger patties, minced meat, meatballs, chicken nuggets, chicken fillets and more.
This plant-based seafood is a step towards better health and sustainability.
Studies show that aside from being healthier in some extent, plant-based alternatives can also have a positive impact on the environment as a plant-based burger production process generates 90% less greenhouse gas emissions than a traditional burger.
